Ever since I wrote this song, I have been thinking about how many people avoid certain streets, coffee shops, parks and places because the memories tied to them are just too painful. I started wondering if there is a way to reclaim those spaces, to take some of that power back.
Having just gone through a breakup myself, I have found I have been going to some of these places on purpose, to confront whatever comes up. It is a powerful exercise, even if it is not exactly a fun one.
I want people to know they are not alone in what they are feeling. That is where the idea of a map of "Places in London I Can't Go" came from. A space where people can share the locations they can no longer go, and the story behind why. Even though the song is rooted in London, stories from anywhere are welcome.
The hope is that it grows into something bigger: a canvas of stories, vulnerability, and the universal experience of love and heartbreak.
Reclaiming
As a community, we can help reclaim the spaces that were lost. You are invited to visit someone's lost place and make a small gesture of love there: take a photo or video, leave a flower or a note, or simply be present in that space while reading the story they submitted.
